Wipro Appoints Srikumar Rao as Global Head- Engineering Edge

Wipro Limited, a global leader in technology services and consulting, has elevated Srikumar Rao as Global Head of its Engineering Edge Business Line, effective October 5, 2024.

Rao will take over from Harmeet Chauhan, who is stepping down to pursue new opportunities outside the company. Srikumar will report directly to Srini Pallia, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Wipro Limited.

In his new role, Srikumar will focus on expanding Wipro’s engineering capabilities and defining the growth strategy for the ER&D business. He will oversee the delivery of AI-first solutions, products, and services, aiming to further enhance client satisfaction and market leadership.

Srikumar Rao’s Extensive Background and Experience

Having been with Wipro for 26 years, Srikumar has grown through various leadership roles, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Wipro Engineering Edge (WEE) and Global Practice Head of Embedded Systems.

His vast experience spans markets such as Software & Internet, Semiconductor, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Communications, delivering specialized Engineering, Research, and Development (ER&D) services.

“Srikumar’s extensive career at Wipro, combined with his deep technical expertise and client-focused approach, makes him the perfect fit for this role,” said Srini Pallia.

“He has significantly shaped the way Wipro Engineering Edge delivers services and has been pivotal in securing major industry deals.” Pallia added.

Pallia also thanked Harmeet Chauhan for his leadership over the past six years, wishing him success in his future endeavors.

Srikumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune and a Postgraduate Program in Software Enterprise Management from IIM Bangalore.

He is a member of NASSCOM’s ER&D Executive Council and will be based in Bengaluru, India.
