ESI Scheme Record Surge; Over 22 Lakh New Workers Enroll

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has witnessed a remarkable surge in registrations, with 22.53 lakh new workers joining the ESI Scheme during the month of July 2024. 

This substantial increase underscores the growing relevance of social security provisions among the workforce.

Key Highlights of ESI Scheme Surge

Among the newly registered workers, a staggering 10.84 lakh employees, constituting nearly 48%, fall within the age group of 25 years or younger.

This trend highlights the scheme’s appeal to the younger workforce, emphasizing the importance of health and social security early in their careers.

The ESI Scheme continues to attract female workers, with 4.65 lakh women enrolling in July 2024. This figure reflects the commitment of ESIC to provide comprehensive coverage to all segments of society.

Notably, 71 transgender employees have also availed the benefits of the ESI Scheme during the same period, demonstrating the organization’s dedication to inclusivity.

ESI Scheme: Establishment Expansion and Year-on-Year Growth

A total of 56,476 new establishments have been brought under the social security ambit of the ESI Scheme in July 2024.

This expansion ensures that more workers receive the protection they deserve. When compared to July 2023, the net registrations in July 2024 exhibit an impressive 13.32% growth.

This upward trajectory signifies the scheme’s effectiveness in providing essential services to a larger workforce.
