Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has released its provisional payroll data for February 2025, showcasing a net addition of 16.10 lakh members.

This marks a year-on-year growth of 3.99% compared to February 2024, reflecting increased employment opportunities and heightened awareness of employee benefits.

The data highlights significant trends in new enrollments, rejoining members, and female participation, offering insights into India’s evolving workforce dynamics.

EPFO New Subscribers and Rejoining Members Data

EPFO enrolled approximately 7.39 lakh new subscribers in February 2025.

This surge in new enrollments is attributed to expanding employment opportunities, enhanced awareness of EPFO benefits, and successful outreach initiatives.

Notably, the 18-25 age group dominated the new subscriber base, with 4.27 lakh additions, constituting 57.71% of the total new subscribers.

This trend aligns with previous patterns, indicating that most individuals joining the organized workforce are youth, primarily first-time job seekers.

Around 13.18 lakh members who had exited EPFO earlier rejoined during February 2025.

This represents an impressive year-on-year growth of 11.85% compared to February 2024.

These members opted to transfer their accumulations rather than applying for final settlements, safeguarding their long-term financial well-being and extending their social security protection.

EPFO November 2025: Female Participation and State-Wise Contributions

The data reveals a notable increase in female participation, with 2.08 lakh new female subscribers joining EPFO in February 2025.

This marks a year-on-year growth of 1.26%.

Additionally, the net female payroll addition stood at 3.37 lakh, reflecting a significant growth of 9.23% compared to February 2024.

This upward trend underscores a broader shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce.

State-wise analysis indicates that the top five states and Union Territories contributed approximately 59.75% of the net payroll addition, totaling around 9.62 lakh members.

Maharashtra emerged as the leader, accounting for 20.90% of the net payroll additions during the month.

Other states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh, individually contributed over 5% of the total net payroll additions.

Industry Trends: Expert Services Dominate

The payroll data highlights industry-specific trends, with expert services—comprising manpower suppliers, contractors, security services, and miscellaneous activities—accounting for 41.72% of the total net payroll additions.

This dominance reflects the growing demand for specialized services in India’s organized workforce.
