After global firms like Uber, Airbnb, homegrown food delivery major, Zomato brings out a unique Talent Directory to help its laid-off employees find a new job.

Talent Directory is a live list of the laid-off employees to assist the recruitment agencies, hiring managers to browse some of the talented individuals who have worked with Zomato through location/ role/qualification/experience filters.

At a time when the startups globally have gone for major retrenchments to cut costs during the COVID pandemic, many companies in healthcare, FMCG, e-commerce, and advanced IT sectors are still hiring.

Talking about his forum in his tweet on Saturday, Zomato’s founder & CEO Deepinder Goyal requested all organizations hiring to review the directory. He said that Zomato had been built by some of the most passionate people. “We are deeply grateful to have had these folks as part of our journey. And we assure you, you will be too. If you need a more curated/filtered list, please write to us at talentdirectory@zomato.com,” Goyal added in his tweet.

Foodtech unicorn, Zomato, earlier laid off 520 employees or 13% of its workforce. Besides the layoffs and salary cuts, Zomato had also announced before that work from home, partially or fully, would be a permanent policy for the company.

Food-delivery systems have seen almost a 60-70% drop in sales in the past two months, owing to the COVID-19 lockdown. In addition, many restaurants have remained shut and their business only survived on the limited home delivery orders.

Other startups like Cult.Fit and Swiggy are also following Zomato’s precedent by helping their laid-off employees find new jobs.
