Google launches Kormo job search app in India to help people find entry-level jobs

Google has announced the launch of its Kormo Jobs app in India to help entry-level job seekers find and apply for positions. The company first launched Kormo Jobs in Bangladesh in 2018 and expanded it to Indonesia last year. Also last year, Google made Kormo available in India under the brand Jobs as a Spot on Google Pay App, said the offering will be rebranded to ‘Kormo Jobs’.

Jobs Spot has connected millions of job seekers with opportunities in fast growing categories including on-demand businesses, retail and hospitality.

“In addition to helping users identify open calls for entry-level roles, the Kormo Jobs app is also designed to help them learn new skills, and easily create a CV.”

“In the wake of the pandemic, the jobs landscape stands altered, with demand shifting to new services that require different sets of skills and experience. Businesses of all sizes face the challenges of the new normal, while job seekers are having to adapt to this shift quickly,” wrote Bickey Russell, Regional Manager and operations lead at Kormo Jobs, said in a blog.

While announcing the limited launch last year, Google said it has partnered 25 companies including Dunzo, Zomato, Swiggy, 24Seven, Ritu Kumar and FabHotels, which have posted listings for positions such as delivery partners, security guards, customer support partners, field sales and marketing executives, etc.

In a statement Thursday, Google India said: “In India, employers like Zomato and Dunzo have found Jobs matching algorithm effective in finding candidates with the required skills, experience and location preferences, with over 2 million verified jobs posted on the platform”.
