Tata consultancy services (TCS) is working on a plan to bring more employees back to the workplace.

As the second wave of COVID-19 subsides and vaccination has picked up, most of the companies around the world are working on plans to bring their employees back to the office.

Ofcourse, it’s not going to be like earlier 9 am to 5 pm, and 5 days a week office. Companies are adopting a hybrid workplace model, a mix of work from home or, anywhere and 2-3 days work in the office with flexibility of working hours and days

Recently, Uber, Apple, and few other companies announced their Return to Workplace model.

Uber said that It can be 3 days one week and 2 days the next week, or 5 days one week and 0 days the next week, depending on what works best for the employee and their team.

However, Apple’s Hybrid Work Model requires employees to return to the office three times a week starting September.

Preparing Workplace for Return to Office

When employees prepare to return to office after months of working from home. They require a comprehensive plan for safety, security, and basic health needs of employees guided by empathy, engagement, and empowerment.

To ensure workplace safety that employees can trust, organizations will need to monitor their return-to-work readiness in real-time, support data-driven decisions, and communicate more effectively.

Further, companies will need to take into account external forces such as changing government policies, vendor issues, and customer dynamics.

What’s TCS plan to Bring Employee Back to Office

Like other world-renowned companies, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is also working on a plan to get back more employees to the workplace.

There are certain risks and the company needs to prepare the workplace accordingly, in order to evaluate how it will get a certain percentage of people back, TCS has drawn up a Risk Assessment Model, Intelligent Urban Exchange that will work on the below factors-

  • Employees vaccination status
  • Testing the employees’ place of residence
  • Risk assessment of areas/localities/regions
  • Basic health parameters at the workplace
  • Employees’ willingness to getting back to the office
  • Employee satisfaction & safety

Leveraging an IoT-grade cloud analytics platform, the IUX Intelligent Exchange application collects and analyzes data from multiple sources and exchanges real-time intelligence and alerts across departments.

Intelligent Urban Exchange will also look into some of the critical utilities like public services, banks and stock exchanges, insurance, and healthcare institutions, telecom and utility providers, retail, consumer goods and travel, bank on TCS‘ back-end IT support.

Currently, the total headcount of the company is 488,649 across the world, and since the pandemic last year, 97% of its employees still working from home.

As TCS had earlier stated that it would bring back employees to offices in a phased manner, keeping in mind safety and business requirements.

But what would be the exact return to workplace model, will be clear in mid of July when TCS will announce its Q1 (first-quarter) results for the FY22.

We feel it would a mix of work from home, or anywhere and work from office with lots of flexibility of working hours and days.
