India’s second-largest IT major, Infosys plans to hire 35,000 college graduates for the financial year 2021-2022.

Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao said, “Demand for digital talent explodes, and the company plans to meet this demand by expanding our hiring program of college graduates for FY22 to 35,000 globally,”

The company’s attrition rate increased to 13.9% than the previous quarter which was 10.9%. However, it is less than last year’s June ending quarter in 2020 which was 15.6%.

Rao said, “As the demand for digital talent increases, rising attrition in the industry poses a near-term challenge,”

Responding to media on Return to Office Rao said, “Employee wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and we have had multiple interventions in this regard including facilitating vaccination for them and their dependents. We rolled out several intense employee engagement initiatives including career acceleration opportunities, compensation reviews, and learning & development interventions.,”

“Our clients continue to be supportive of the multiple initiatives we have undertaken; they value the delivery commitments we have met even during these extraordinary times”, he added.

“We have vaccinated 58 percent of employees with the first dose and 10 percent with both doses, up to 30% may return to office within six months, Rao said”

Rao said, “Nature of the pandemic is that we will continue to see multiple waves. While India is expecting a third wave, some of the other geographies have already seen the impact of the third wave. In the long run, getting majority of the population vaccinated and following best practices at least for the near future is the only solution.”

Rao further said, “Our expectation is that over the next six months or so, assuming that impact of the subsequent wave is minimal, we expect maybe 20-30 percent of the employees to start coming to office.”

This could vary from geography to geography, nature of projects, client requirements, and individual preferences, he added.

The total headcount of the company is increased to 2,67,953. Infosys has added 8,334 people to its workforce in the first quarter of FY22.
