Online retail giant, Amazon has announced its plans that it will be creating nearly more than 4,000 jobs in the UK this year. This will bring the company’s total UK staff strength to 75,000.

Amazon has planned to include roles in new warehouses in Wakefield and Knowsley. The company created 40,000 new jobs in the past three years making it one of the UK’s top ten private sector employers.

John Boumphrey, Amazon UK country manager said, “We’re continuing to invest in talent right across the UK, from apprentices in Swansea to data scientists in Edinburgh.”

The hiring will be in various roles including corporate and technology functions in software development, product management, and engineering.

Amazon has also announced its plans to create 1,500 new apprenticeships in the UK in 2022 across 40 different schemes.

The company has faced criticism in the past about working conditions for employees, and about its response to workers wanting to unionize to negotiate better pay and working conditions.

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking, the company said.
