Meesho ends the work-from-anywhere policy

India’s fastest-growing internet commerce company, Meesho has announced that the company has adopted a flexible model of working and will be ending its work-from-anywhere model from June 1 next year.

Meesho said, “Starting June 1, 2023, Meesho will adopt a flexi-office model combining the flexibility and convenience of remote work with the energy and enthusiasm of periodic in-office presence.”

“Employees will come to the office one day a week and can continue to work remotely for the rest of the week,” the company added.

Ashish Kumar Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer at Meesho, said, “This move is rooted in our culture of proactively soliciting and acting upon employee feedback.”

“Our internal surveys reflect that while a boundaryless set-up has shown advantages like higher productivity, employees almost unanimously agree that we can further enhance team bonding and collaboration (especially for new joiners), quicker brainstorming and speed of execution”, Ashish Kumar Singh added.

Meesho will ask its employees to come to the office once a week and work remotely the other days. The company has given options to employees that they either have to relocate to Bengaluru or travel to the city once a week.

According to the Flexi-Office model, On the other hand, the company will be providing employees relocating to Bengaluru will get comprehensive financial support.

The benefits will include:-

  • This will cover travel & real estate brokerage.
  • Goods transportation
  • School readmission
  • Sponsored daycare facilities for children younger than six.
  • The company will give relocation leave and other assistance.

Meesho currently employs 1,850 employees. 50 percent of the total workforce is based out of Bengaluru. The company said that based on the survey’s results it is adopting the Flexi-Office model combining the flexibility and convenience of remote work.

The major IT companies like Tech Giants like Accenture, Infosys, TCS, and Persistent Systems have already ended work from home and made lucrative arrangements to call back their employees to offices.
