ESIC: Dependent Benefit pays at the rate of 90% of wage

One of the two main statutory social security bodies, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced that the dependent Benefit is eligible for benefits after the deceased of the Insured person.

ESIC recently shared a Tweet from the official Twitter Handle saying, “Dependant Benefit pays at the rate of 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment to the dependents of a deceased Insured person in cases where death occurs due to employment injury or occupational hazards. #esichq #esicscheme #dependantbenefit

On the death of the insured due to employment injury, the payment is given at the rate of 90 percent of the average daily wages and is shared between the dependents in fixed proportions.

This is given to the widow of an insured person for lifelong or remarriage, till the completion of the age of 25 years, till the daughter is married. The contribution starts from day one of entering Insurable employment, paid for death due to employment injury.

  • Duration: For life to the widow or until her re-marriage, and to dependent son till the age of 25 years, till the marriage of a daughter, and to the dependent parents; etc on the subject to condition.

Recently, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) announced Sickness Benefits in the form of cash compensation for employees.

The sickness benefits are provided in the form of periodic cash payments that can be provided under the ESI scheme to an employee covered under ESI during the period of certified sickness, requiring medical treatment and abstention from work on medical grounds.

The Sickness benefit is provided at 70% of the average daily wages that can be paid under the scheme for 91 days during 2 consecutive benefit periods.
