According to Business Today, an Indian multinational ridesharing company, Ola has fired 200 people in a fresh round of layoffs.

The layoffs are across Ola Cabs, the ride-hailing business, and Ola Electric, the electric vehicle manufacturing company.

Earlier in September, Ola laid off nearly 200 employees across the engineering segment. The company earlier made headlines when Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal found himself in the middle of criticism.

According to reports, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal tore up presentations just because of the missing page numbers. Many employees have revealed his abrasive behavior which upset board members and managers.

Furthermore, employees reveal that the meeting was scheduled for an hour-long meeting but it ended within 10 minutes. The employee told that he often loses patience over the poor quality of printing paper, crooked paper clips, and typos in the memo. Additionally, he calls the employees ‘useless’.

“Not everybody is a fit for our culture,” Aggarwal said when asked about his management style. “There’s no world standard on an even, sterile work environment.”

“Passions and emotions run high and we are not on an easy journey,” he said. “But I don’t want to choose an easier journey for myself or for Ola.”

Recently, Amazon has also announced it lay off more than 18,000 employees. This affected nearly 1000 employees in India. Reportedly, Salesforce began a fresh round of layoffs and it will affect many employees followed by Goldman Sachs layoffs.

Recently, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski has confirmed that the company may layoff employees in April 2023 as part of a cost-cutting exercise.

The company is India’s largest mobility platform and one of the world’s largest ride-hailing companies, serving 250+ cities across India, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

The Ola app offers mobility solutions by connecting customers to drivers and a wide range of vehicles across bikes, auto-rickshaws, metered taxis, and cabs, enabling convenience and transparency for hundreds of millions of consumers and over 1.5 million driver-partners.
