Chingari announces 2-day paid monthly period leave

A video-sharing mobile app, Chingari has announced two-day paid menstruation leave per month for its female employees starting immediately.

Chingari announced the new policy on 6 March. The company is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that empowers women.

The company has been promoting #GARI4NARI, a social impact initiative aimed at empowering women in India by providing financial assistance to those in need. 

Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder & CEO of Chingari said, “We understand the importance of empowering women in the workplace and are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment.”

“We believe that this policy will assist our female employees in managing their health and well-being”, Sumit Ghosh added.

Additionally, the company will be providing the female creators with periodic training and educational sessions to enhance their performance on the platform.

In India, there are a few companies that have already implemented Menstrual Leaves including:-

  • AU Small Finance Bank has announced Menstrual leaves for female employees. The bank will provide one day of additional paid leave starting February 2023.
  • Orient Electric Limited has introduced menstrual leaves for its women employees as part of its commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive work culture.
  • AntMyErp has announced a 3-day Menstrual Leave for Women employees in the company. The implemented Menstrual Leave for Women employees effective from July 1, 2022.

The company’s policy of menstruation leave reflects Chingari’s commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace. The company is committed that every employee is valued and treated with respect.

The decision by Chingari to implement menstrual leave is part of its larger initiative to support women’s health and well-being.
