Some angry Microsoft employees reportedly blasted their boss Satya Nadella on Thursday after he shared a message touting a “landmark year” at the tech giant — even as executives withheld raises, announced 10,000 layoffs in January, and frozen pay raises.

Nadella lauded the company’s accomplishments in a missive shared on Microsoft’s internal message boards on Thursday — the last day of the company’s 2023 fiscal year, Insider reported.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wrote, “As we approach the end of FY23, I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone working hard across the company for a strong close.”

“The innovation and creativity you continue to show have made this a landmark year not just for Microsoft, but for our customers, partners, and communities around the world,” he added.

He emphasized that their efforts have not only made it a landmark year for Microsoft but also for their customers, partners, and communities worldwide.

As per Business Insider reports, around 200,000 people read Nadella’s message, and the majority responded positively with upvotes. Nearly 130 individuals wrote replies, with about half of them expressing positive sentiments.

One message from an employee, upvoted by over 250 people, admonished that a “good way to show gratitude is to unfreeze pay raises” and then pointed out that the senior leaders who made the pay decision were worth many millions.

“I wonder where the record profits come from? For myself, I don’t feel privileged at all for working here,” and then talked about working 14-16 hour days while facing stagnant wages and rising health care costs”, another employee wrote.

Tech giant, Microsoft has a global workforce of more than 200,000 employees. Earlier, the company announced that it won’t raise the salary of employees this year for full-time employees. The company sacked 11,000 employees worldwide due to the global economic slowdown.
