An IT employees union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has written a letter to the Labour Minister urging them to take action as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reportedly delayed the onboarding of several lateral hires.

NITES has asked the Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav to intervene in the matter. According to reports, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has delayed the onboarding of over 200 lateral hires for at least three to four months.

These include new hires across Bangalore, Pune, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Delhi NCR, and Indore, with experiences ranging from 1.8 years to 15 years.

NITES said in a letter,” This decision has caused severe hardship to several employees who had resigned from their previous jobs to join TCS.”

“The consequences of this delayed onboarding are particularly distressing considering the financial obligations and family responsibilities that the affected employees bear,” NITES added in the letter.

The It union alleged that the employees were informed about the delay in their onboarding when they reached TCS offices on their joining date.

NITES further said in the letter “We request you to direct TCS to pay the affected employees their full salaries for the three months that their onboarding has been delayed, provide the affected employees with access to TCS’s employee assistance program, and  work with the affected employees to find alternative employment opportunities within TCS,” the union wrote in the letter.”

Recently, TCS also fired 6 employees due to job scams and also banned many staffing firms. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on June 29 that the IT and consulting company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has sacked six employees after finding them guilty of accepting favours from certain staffing firms in the appointment of contractual workers.

“We have sacked six employees and also banned six staffing companies,” Chairman said in response to questions from shareholders.

He said, “The company received two separate whistleblower complaints — one pertaining to the appointment of business associates or contractual workers in the US, and one in India, in late February and March, after which it investigated the allegations.”
