Meesho announces new employee WLB, and Parental Leave policy

An online shopping platform, Meesho has introduced a new policy designed to ensure employees have the precious time needed to cherish the priceless moments of parenthood.

The new policy also includes 30 weeks of childcare leave for employees. “At Meesho, we value work-life balance and the journey of becoming a parent. With us, you can experience the best of both worlds!”, the company added.

The company is providing the following benefits under various categories:

1) Preparing for Parenthood

  1. Infertility covers up to 1.5 Lakh under insurance.
  2. Maternity benefit of 1 Lakh per child under insurance.
  3. Adoption assistance of up to 1 Lakh of up to 1 Lakh per child.

Additionally, the company is also providing 9 days of expectant care leaves.

2) Pre & Postnatal Care

  1. 30 Weeks of Child Care Leaves, exceeding the 26-week industry standards.
  2. 12-week primary caregiver leave extension at 25% payout.
  3. Extra 1-month leave for pregnancy-related illness.
  4. 6 Weeks left in the unfortunate event of miscarriage.

3) Career Continuity & Fair Evaluation

  1. No Impact in leave on rating or promotion.
  2. Additionally, Performance is assessed based on the current year’s work duration, if the duration is less than 3 months, the previous year will be retained.

4) Transition back to work

  1. The managers at the company will be sensitization around the pre & post-natal journey.
  2. Moreover, Meesho is providing flexi working options with flexible working hours policy.
  3. The company provides Insurance coverage for the child from day one.
  4. The company is also providing 10k/month for children under 6 years of age.

Recently, Standard Chartered announced a global rollout of medical coverage for the treatment of menopause-related symptoms to all employees and their partners as part of their medical benefits.

More than two-thirds of employees will be covered by November with the rollout expected to complete by April 2024.
