Accenture India has 20,000 GenAI proficient staffers: HR Head

As reported by TOI, An Irish-American professional services company, Accenture India has 20,000 GenAI proficient staffers.

Chief Leadership & Human Resources Officer Ellyn Shook, said, “Our talent strategy is powered by our digital core.”

“We want to double the number of people with data and AI skills from 40,000 to 80,000 in the next three years. And to do that, we’ve defined 12 roles that didn’t exist before”, Ellyn Shook added.

Ellyn Shook further said, “We already have 30,000 people mapped to those new roles. And each one of those roles has learning pathways so that our people can pursue those paths.”

“Of the 30,000 people globally mapped to those roles, 20,000 of them are here in India, and that academy, while very relevant to India, is also enabling our people around the globe,” she said.

Additionally, Accenture has a global workforce of 730,000 employees more than 300,000 are based in India. Notably, almost half of these employees in India are women.

Moreover, In January 2024, Accenture announced of setting up of Generative AI studios in nine countries across Asia Pacific and Latin America to respond to growing client interest in the technology.

The studios across Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Greater China, India, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, and Singapore will connect clients with data and AI experts from Accenture, and ecosystem partners, ventures, and other strategic investments to enable rapid experimentation, co-creation and scaling of generative AI solutions using Accenture’s responsible AI framework as a foundation.

The studios were part of Accenture’s $3 billion investment in data and AI. The company also recently announced the launch of specialized services to help clients build their large language models that are tailored to meet their specific business needs.
