Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to recruit 40,000 freshers soon through campus hiring

According to a recent report by Zee Business, India’s largest IT company will recruit 40,000 freshers soon through campus hiring. Milind Lakkad, EVP and Global Head – Human Resources at TCS said, “As for as hiring is concerned, we haven’t added people in the last quarter, due to which our net number came negative. Going forward, we will conduct a campus hiring in which 40,000 people will be recruited and another hiring will increase based on the demand, globally.”

Talking on Lateral hiring, Rajesh Gopinathan CEO & MD of TCS, said, “We are switching from zero lateral hirings to selective hiring across markets”

TCS, on 9 July, Thursday, reported a 13.81% fall in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2020. The company posted a net profit of Rs 7,008 crore for the period under consideration, as against a profit of Rs 8,131 crore posted in a similar quarter last year.

Rajesh Gopinathan, said, “The revenue impact of the pandemic played out broadly along the lines we had anticipated at the start of the quarter. It affected all verticals, with the exception of Life Sciences and Healthcare, with varying levels of impact. We believe it has bottomed out, and we should now start tracing our path to growth.”

“We believe that starting from next quarter on a quarter on quarter basis, we should start to see positive revenue growth and slowly trace our way back to where we left out. Currently, we are expecting that in rupee terms, by the third quarter we should get to the same level as we were at the end of last year in December of last year,” he said.

Earlier in June 2020, Infosys the second-largest IT services company of the country had said that it will go to college campuses for the hiring of freshers. They will soon talk to colleges for freshers who will join next year. Though Infosys didn’t disclose the numbers. It had recruited 18,000 freshers in the last financial year campus hiring.

In the month of May 2020, HCL Tech had also announced to hire 15,000 freshers onboard in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic but keeping the lateral hiring on hold.
