IBM has announced senior leadership appointments and has appointed Mohamad Ali as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Arvind Krishna Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, IBM has shared a Note on the leadership changes

I have two important announcements to share – both aimed at bolstering our leadership team and executing our growth strategy.

I am pleased to welcome Mohamad Ali back to IBM as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of IBM Consulting. Some of you may recall Mohamad’s contributions during his tenure with us from 1996 to 2009. He not only helped scale IBM’s multi-billion dollar analytics software business but also spearheaded the acquisition and integration of key companies.

Mohamad’s extensive software background, coupled with a proven ability to create repeatable assets for consulting, will be invaluable as we help businesses everywhere leverage technology as a source of competitive advantage. His vision of infusing AI across delivery processes will help our consulting business reach new levels of excellence, productivity, and innovation.

His tenure as the CEO of IDG and Carbonite, as well as his strategic role at Hewlett-Packard and his significant responsibilities at Avaya, attest to his ability to lead, innovate, and grow businesses.

Reporting to John Granger, SVP of IBM Consulting, Mohamad will also be a member of IBM’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT). His appointment is effective immediately.

Additionally, I am pleased to share that Kelly Chambliss will be returning from her leave in January. Kelly has a proven track record of making IBM Consulting better – more agile, client-focused, and innovative. Kelly’s next role will be announced upon her return in January, and as an SVP, she will remain part of the ELT.

I am confident that John, Mohamad, Kelly, and the rest of the Consulting leadership team have the strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and focus on world-class execution needed to take our business to the next level.

Please join me in welcoming Mohamad back to IBM and looking forward to Kelly’s return.
