Granules India ropes in Uma Rao as Chief HR Officer from Ashok Leyland

Granules India, a fully integrated pharmaceutical manufacturer has announced the appointment of Uma Rao as Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to this, she was associated with Ashok Leyland as Vice President- HR for 7 years.

Uma is a senior HR leader with experience in a wide gamut of HR areas over 3 decades in multiple sectors like Petroleum, IT, Telecom, FMCG, Manufacturing, and in leading MNCs and Indian Companies.

Before joining Ashok Leyland in 2016, Uma has been associated with top brand companies such as HIL Limited, a C K Birla Group Company, Mars, IBM, Idea Cellular Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services, and HPCL.

She has been in HR leadership positions for the last two decades and also holds the honor of being the first woman Vice -President in Ashok Leyland Ltd in the 72 years of its existence.

Sharing the development on social media Uma said, “After nearly 7 years with Ashok Leyland Ltd, it’s time for me to move on… incredible memories with fabulous colleagues and adorable team members.”

“An emotional moment no doubt which will remain as a treasure, a personalized memento from our Chairman, Mr. Dheeraj Hinduja came as a pleasant surprise as also the lovely team farewell and goodies!! Thanks to Ashok Leyland and all the dear team members with whom I have really enjoyed working! It’s now time for me to do something else.”

Welcoming Uma Granules India said on LinkedIn, “We’d like to give a warm welcome to Ms. Uma Rao joining us as Chief Human Resources Officer.”

“She brings over 30 years of experience in HR functions like Strategic HR, contemporary HR policies, Business HR partnering, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, merger & acquisition-related HR work, Industrial Relations, and dealings with labor unions and long-term settlements among others.” The company added.

Uma is a post-graduate from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has completed the Global Advanced Management Program from ISB- Kellogg’s.
