MetLife appoints Shurawl Sibblies as Executive VP and CHRO

MetLife, Inc. has announced that Shurawl Sibblies will join the company as executive vice president and chief human resources officer, effective Aug. 1, 2024.

She will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Michel Khalaf and become a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Michel Khalaf, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Shurawl will build on our progress to foster a purpose-driven, inclusive culture that attracts, develops, engages and retains world-class talent.”

“With her exceptional track record of developing high-performing teams globally, Shurawl is well positioned to continue to empower our people for the future and make a difference in the lives of our customers and the communities we serve”, Michel Khalaf added.

Shurawl comes to MetLife from American Express, where she was executive vice president and colleague strategic partner leading talent, organizational and leadership development strategies for several businesses and functions.

Prior to American Express, She served as senior vice president and human resources business partner for MetLife’s U.S. Business, Global Employee Benefits and Investments teams, as well as several of the company’s functions.

She has also held leadership positions in human resources, finance and product management for companies including TIAA, Citigroup and Hewlett-Packard.

On her appointment in the new role Shurawl Sibblies said, “People are at the heart of HR and drive company performance, and MetLife shares my passion to empower people to be their best and enable organizations to thrive. I’m thrilled to be rejoining the company.”

She holds her B.S. in business administration from the University of Albany. She completed her M.S. in predictive analytics from Northwestern University, and her M.B.A. in finance from the University of Rochester.
