The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced several measures to enhance the efficiency and ease of claim settlements. These steps focus on automation, digitalization, and process simplification to improve user experience.

Auto-Mode Processing of Claims

EPFO has increased the limit for auto-mode claim processing to ₹1 lakh, covering advances for housing, education, and marriage in addition to illness and hospitalization.

As a result, 60% of advance claims are now processed automatically within three days.

In FY 2024-25 (as of 06.03.2025), EPFO achieved a record 2.16 crore auto-claim settlements, significantly up from 89.52 lakh in the previous financial year.

Simplified Member Details Correction

Members with Aadhaar-verified UANs can now correct their details independently, without any intervention from EPFO. Currently, 96% of corrections are processed without requiring assistance from EPF offices.

Digital-First Approach

A significant shift towards digitalization has led to 99.31% of claims being submitted online, eliminating the need for physical visits. In FY 2024-25, as of 06.03.2025, a total of 7.14 crore claims have been processed through the online mode.

Simplified Transfer Claims

EPFO has further streamlined transfer claims by removing the requirement for employer attestation for Aadhaar-verified UANs. As a result, only 10% of transfer claims now require employer verification, reducing delays in claim processing.

Eased Documentation Requirements

To make the process more convenient, EPFO has relaxed the requirement to submit a cheque-leaf with claim forms for KYC-compliant UANs that meet prescribed criteria. This step minimizes paperwork and expedites claim settlements.

De-Linking Facility for Erroneous or Fraudulent Linkages

EPFO has introduced a de-linking facility for members whose EPF accounts were erroneously or fraudulently linked by establishments. Since its launch on 18.01.2025, over 55,000 members have successfully de-linked their accounts.

Centralized IT-Enabled System (CITES 2.01)

To further simplify and speed up the claim settlement process, EPFO is centralizing member databases under the Centralized IT-Enabled System (CITES 2.01). This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and ensure seamless claim processing.

These reforms, shared by Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, in the Lok Sabha, reinforce EPFO’s commitment to faster, transparent, and user-friendly claim settlements.
