An American multinational corporation, American Express is on a hiring spree and is planning to hire 1500 software engineers, coders, and developers.

Ravi Radhakrishnan, AmEx’s chief information officer, said in an interview, “The company has already added more than 3,600 technical workers this year and hopes to fill the remaining openings by the end of the year.”

“Roughly 60% of the hires will be in the US, with about a third in India and the rest in Europe”, he said.

“It is without a doubt a challenging environment to recruit technical talent,” Radhakrishnan added.

Radhakrishnan further added, “The war for talent is a true consideration.”

“There’re a lot of talent that wants to understand how we approach flexibility,” Radhakrishnan said.

The company just does not provide the option of flexibility. It also provides the option to be virtual, in-person, or hybrid.

American Express combines it with purpose. The company asks people to work with their leaders to determine the purpose for coming in.

To help colleagues achieve their fullest potential both as a colleague and as a parent and caregivers, American Express continues to invest in best-in-class benefits.

“So many colleagues play critical roles in the day-to-day lives of their loved ones. We remain committed to having their backs and continue to look for ways to improve our unique and distinctive services. I’d encourage all parents and all caregivers to lean into the support, flexibility, and community we have at Amex—it’s here for you in good and challenging times,” says David Kasiarz, Executive Vice President, Colleague Total Rewards & Well-being and Executive Sponsor of our Families@Amex colleague network.

The company had 64,000 employees as of the end of last year. According to a Deloitte report in February, nearly two-thirds of human-resources professionals cited hiring qualified developers as their biggest recruitment challenge of the year.
