State Bank of India (SBI) has announced plans to recruit approximately 12,000 individuals for a variety of roles, with a particular focus on information technology (IT).

This initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to bolstering its workforce and enhancing its technological capabilities.

As reported by Money Control, Chairman Dinesh Khara said, “Around 11,000 to 12,000 employees are in the hiring process.”

“These are general employees, but we actually are having a system where at our associate level and officers’ level around 85 percent of them are engineers”, Dinesh Khara added.

Dinesh Khara further said, “We give them some exposure to understand banking and thereafter we start channelizing them into various associate roles and some of them will be channelized in IT.”

The company said on its career page, “State Bank of India, with a glorious history of more than 200 years, stands as the proxy for the Indian Economy.”

“The Bank’s strength over the decades has stemmed from its strong employee-centric approach, and its ability to attract and retain the best banking talent in the country”, the company added.

“At SBI, you will grow professionally by tackling complex business problems. You will grow as an individual as you discover your passions and chart your own career path. You will build new perspectives as you travel the country and the world”, the company added.

The company further said on its career page, “You will develop empathy for others as you meet new people every day and learn from their experiences. Day by day, month on month, year after year – You will continue to grow. And that’s SBI’s promise to you.”
