TATA-Group-owned Air India on Thursday revamped its logo and the aircraft in a flamboyant ceremony in New Delhi.

The new logo will be seen to travellers starting in December 2023, when Air India’s first Airbus A350 enters the fleet with the new livery.

“The new look reimagines the iconic Indian window shape, historically used by Air India, into a gold window frame that becomes central to the new brand design system – symbolising a ‘Window of Possibilities’,” added the airline.

Campbell Wilson, Air India CEO & MD said, “Our transformative new brand reflects an ambition to make Air India a world-class airline serving guests from around the globe, and that represents a new India proudly on the global stage.”

“The new Air India is bold, confident, and vibrant, but also warm and deeply rooted to its rich history and traditions that make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for standards in service”, Campbell Wilson added.

“Colours, patterns, shapes and how they come together and what they represent matter, but our actions speak so much louder. We are in the midst of a total transformation to reimagine the role of India’s flagship airline”, Campbell Wilson further said.

Shashi Tharoor, Ex-Minister of State, Govt. of India said, “I guess we’ll get used to @airindia‘s new look, which has had mixed reviews. But what really matters to passengers is fixing the interiors of the planes. Service is good; but the aircraft, seats et al are creaking. The passenger experience comes from what’s inside the aircraft, not what’s outside.”

One user took to the social media Platform X (Formally Twitter) and said, “I just love simple, clean and bold livery which stand out. My favourite livery has always been KLM.”

“But Air India was not far behind, especially the tail art. This new Air India livery is not my cup of tea! But, it will always be one of my airlines of choice”, the post added.

“I understand that they needed to change the identity a little bit to remind people of better service but this is a downgrade. They should have done better”, other user wrote.
