The accommodation platform, Airbnb has said that it will allow its employees to work permanently from anywhere — including their home, the office, or while traveling in different countries.

Employees who work in lower cost-of-living areas won’t see their compensation change, the company said.

Airbnb chief executive Brian Chesky informed the employees detailing its new flexible working policy. He predicted that in 10 years, flexible working would be the norm for many people.

According to Brian, some functions can better be executed only by the physical presence of people. People belonging to a team that needs to be physically together, may either attend office spaces or move together to any location within the country that they will be operating from.

Brian believes that the work has to be executed over a blend of the best properties offered by Zoom calls and those offered by a physical office place.

He said, “If we limited our talent pool to a commuting radius around our offices, we would be at a significant disadvantage. The best people live everywhere, not concentrated in one area.”

He future added that the employees would have “the flexibility to travel and work around the world” from September for up to 90 days in over 170 countries.
