Earlier, Covid waves changed the working pattern of companies around the globe from working from the office to Working from home.

However, in the last couple of months companies have shifted from remote to Hybrid or allowing employees to work from the office at least a few days a week.

Current Working Pattern

  • Recently, Meesho announced that the company has adopted a flexible model of working and will be ending its work-from-anywhere model from June 1 next year.
  • Firms like Persistent Systems and Accenture have taken the initiative to open small offices in cities where they already have larger setups.
  • Infosys also announced that it will soon be resuming its work from the office in a three-phased manner.
  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) took a strict stand on WFO and sent emails to employees asking them to work from office at least 03 days a week based on the roster system.
  • Snapchat has asked its employees to work from the office employees starting in February.
  • On the other hand, many companies are working from office as well.

Current Scenario

As per the media reports, China has again witnessed the Covid wave. Apart from this, the government has made the RT-PCR test mandatory for international passengers arriving from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

However, As per the current status, the active cases in India have been on a decline. But, companies in India are taking precautions in their hiring plans given the rising covid-19 cases in many countries and also due to coupled with fears of a global recession.

According to livemint, Anshuman Das, chief executive officer and co-founder of Careernet, a talent solutions provider said, “Hospitality, automobile, commercial and office real estate, Travel, transportation, and mobility will be on high alert.”

Mala Chawla, managing partner, in Singapore and India, for recruitment firm Stanton Chase, said, “The covid news is coming at a time when it’s a hiring slowdown.”

“Clients in tourism and hospitality are getting more cautious, but those in other sectors like manufacturing and consumer have not stopped hiring,” Mala Chawla added.

If a fourth wave hits India, companies in the tourism, hospitality, transport, and real estate sectors are also considering work-from-home options.
