As tensions rise between India and Pakistan, several top companies like Deloitte, KPMG, Indian IT, and global consulting firms have issued advisories urging employees in high-risk areas to work from home (WFH) and avoid non-essential travel.

Companies including HCLTech, Deloitte, EY, Tech Mahindra, and KPMG have activated precautionary measures, especially in northern states and the Delhi-NCR region.

Targeted WFH Advisory in High-Alert Regions

The advisories primarily apply to employees located in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Chandigarh, and other areas flagged for heightened security.

Deloitte India has recommended deferring all non-essential domestic and international travel and has set up a command centre hotline for employee assistance.

A source told Moneycontrol that professionals deployed in border states were asked to return to base locations immediately.

Employees have also been instructed to strictly follow government safety directives.

HCLTech, EY, Tech Mahindra Lead Early Response

HCLTech declared May 9 as a WFH day for employees in Chandigarh, Gurugram, and Noida.

Tech Mahindra began its precautionary communication on May 7, advising calm and suspending non-essential travel.

The company also cautioned employees against discussing the conflict on social media or during client engagements.

EY India issued a WFH mandate for staff in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad, while allowing optional WFH in other cities for May 9.

KPMG Offers Flexibility, Keeps Offices Open

KPMG India adopted a more flexible approach, allowing employees in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, and Jaipur to choose between working from home, office, or client sites in consultation with business managers.

“Our offices will, however, remain open to support critical business needs,” a KPMG spokesperson said in a statement.

Fresh Explosions in Jammu; States Heighten Security

The advisory comes amid fresh explosions in Jammu that led to emergency sirens and a citywide blackout.

Surveillance has been intensified following attempted drone and missile attacks by Pakistan targeting military installations in Jammu and Pathankot.

Several states — including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Bihar — have implemented additional measures like school closures, blackouts in border districts, and cancellation of police and administrative staff leaves.

Corporate India and Security Agencies on High Alert

With the geopolitical situation rapidly evolving, corporate India and security agencies continue to monitor developments closely to ensure employee safety and operational continuity.
