An area that demonstrates this is healthcare – health outcomes in India continue to be closely tied to socio-economic status, identity, and community. It’s not doable for same-sex companions to get coated beneath a group health insurance policy.

Even after all this HealthySure in collaboration with insurance companions is now protecting these companions beneath a group health insurance plan.

Sanil Basutkar, co-founder mentioned, “We have been working laborious to allow this protection for a very long time. We perceive the significance of figuring out healthcare protection patterns for the LGBTQ+ inhabitants.”

There are combinations of complex barriers responsible for the exclusion of the most vulnerable communities from access to healthcare. While some barriers, such as poverty or distance to healthcare centres, are simpler to understand, others such as systemic discrimination or policy gaps require a more complex analysis.

Given the rapidly changing sexual demographic of the country, along with the changes in legislation and other factors that mold it, this paper systemically reviews LGBTQ individuals’ vulnerabilities toward various communicable and non-communicable diseases along with the lacunae in the primary healthcare system and the need for their inclusion in it.

Although points surrounding healthcare and insurance protection proceed to evolve and their authorized rights have expanded, there’s nonetheless a protracted street forward earlier than members of LGBTQ+ neighborhood start to see enhancements, mentioned the agency.

Group health insurance historically solely included married companions of people as a part of overlaying relations. As same-sex marriages aren’t legally permissible in India.
