According to TOI, an American multinational technology corporation, IBM has initiated a redeployment initiative in India.

The company currently operates in more than 170 countries with a total employment of over one lakh individuals in India. This is one-third of its global workforce.

IBM India Private Limited is the Indian subsidiary of IBM. It has facilities in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida, Pune, and Visakhapatnam. The company currently has over 3,000 openings listed on its India portal.

The spokesperson for IBM India said, “As part of our usual business operations, we continue to align our talent to our growth plans, client and market needs.”

“IBM remains committed to investing and growing in India, which includes a significant focus on providing employees with learning and future-skilling investments and opportunities for their career development”, the spokesperson added.

The company has asked some of its employees to find positions internally within a 30 to 60-day period. The employees will be asked to quit if they are unable to find alternative positions.

The Online tech portal The Register said IBM has shifted the roles of US IBM systems employees developing AIX over to the Indian office. IBM’s AIX runs some of the most critical and data-intensive workloads for enterprises globally.

IBM is providing infrastructure, software (including market-leading Red Hat), and consulting services for clients as they pursue the digital transformation of the world’s mission-critical businesses.

IBM is in personal digital employees, or digeys, AI-powered workers who can relieve employees of their most repetitive, mundane tasks. The company believes intelligent automation solutions will help businesses improve workflows, integrate systems, and gain insights into operations.
