Lotus Petal Foundation’s flagship training & placement program Jeevika Skill Development Program will be providing training to over 6000 Rural and Urban Youth by 2025.

Jeevika is the skill development program of Lotus Petal Foundation. It focuses on senior secondary students. The students complete their education along with courses that enable them to be ready for the formal job market after grade 12.

The teachers and counsellors carry out detailed tests for the students. These include tests such as MBTI, DBA, NEO-PI 3, and Internet Record Test. The tests are to determine the skill sets and aptitudes of the students. Therefore, the children make informed choices as to where their skills are matching and choose courses accordingly that educate them beyond their academic curriculum.

The students have the option of selecting from 16 vocational courses offered in association with NIIT Foundation.

Kushal Chakravorty, Founder of Lotus Petal Foundation said, “Integration of vocational education with general education and mainstreaming of vocational education has been identified as the key reform in the education system of the country.”

“The most successful skill development programs are those that are designed with the needs of the population in mind”, Kushal Chakravorty added.

Kushal Chakravorty further said, “The Jeevika Skill Development Program is tailored to the individual’s experience, skills, and career aspirations besides being accessible for people from all backgrounds and communities as the initiative has been designed to provide exposure and skills to underprivileged students, college dropouts and unemployed youth from across the country by providing short-term vocational training courses with 100% placement opportunities.”

These courses are in the sectors of Banking & Financial Services, Electronics & IT hardware industry, Health care Services, Transportation, Retail, Telecommunications Tourism & Hospitality.

The focus is on developing communication skills and on building confidence within the child. In addition to studying for their courses, students also intern with various corporate and retail houses to get real-time experience.
