A former Meta employee Madelyn Machado shared a video on TikTok revealing how she had nothing to do especially in the recruiting space at social media platform Meta for six months straight. And she also revealed that she was getting paid $190,000 (roughly Rs 1.57 crore) annually.

In the Video (Click here to watch the video) titled ‘Getting paid $190K to do nothing at Meta,’ she informed her viewers that the tech giant’s approach to work ‘blew my mind’ and that she “didn’t do sh**” during her six-month stint at the company.

Now, Madelyn Machado has explained the same through a LinkedIn Post saying, “I posted a video, that has gone viral on the wrong side of TikTok. As I stated in my 6 months at Meta, I wasn’t expected to hire anyone and I didn’t do anything other than learn for the first 6 months.”

“Of course, I got a bunch of comments calling me lazy, saying I was “skating through life”, taking advantage (of a trillion dollar corporation???), etc”, Madelyn post added.

Madelyn’s post further added, “But I wasn’t always like this y’all. I, like most of the people who were so angry in my comments, was once very proud of the work I produced, took much pride in how hard I worked, how many hours I was at my desk, and the feeling that the company would just implode if I wasn’t around.”

“That was until Gary. Gary was my coworker at Microsoft. He passed away in a tragic accident. We found out about his passing on Tuesday. They had his position posted on Wednesday and were interviewing for his backfill by Friday”, Madelyn post said.

Madelyn post concluded, “Life is way too short to pride yourself on how hard you work, for companies that care so little.”

Meta (formerly named Facebook) CEO Mark Zuckerberg has written a letter for his employees when announced a fresh layoff of about 10,000 staff.

The CEO also urged employees to work from the office to increase efficiency. Additionally, he also said the company’s analysis shows the employees who worked from the office fared better than those who worked remotely.
