SAP Labs India has announced to double its headcount and open a new campus by 2025. The new campus will be across 41.07 acres and will be located at Devanahalli, near Bangalore International Airport.

The company is planning to attract and retain the right talent in the new hybrid world by bridging physical and digital workspaces. The company has not disclosed the investment in setting up this new campus.

Thomas Saueressig, Product Engineering, Executive Board, SAP said, “The development of the workforce in India is the backbone of SAP. All of our innovation at scale comes from India and it’s already the largest R&D centre. It is now doubling and will be a major growth driver for SAP in the future.”

The seating capacity of the campus will be 15,000 people. As per the hiring plan for the company for this year 2022, it will be hiring 3,600 and has already onboarded 1,600 employees. The new campus will focus:

  • Sustainability
  • Wellness
  • Inclusivity while keeping the employee at the centre of SAP’s thought process.

Sindhu Gangadharan, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, SAP Labs India, said, “The new campus at Devanahalli will be a perfect ecosystem as we have our customers such as Unilever, Shell and Boeing, among others located there.”

“The idea of the new campus is to achieve higher growth by tapping into the ecosystem even more with the great talent we have”, Sindhu Gangadharan added.

SAP Labs India is SAP’s largest Research and Development center outside its headquarters in Germany and a part of a connected lab network of 20 Labs in 17 countries. It is one of the earliest R&D centers of a global company to have a footprint in India and has over the period of almost two decades grown in strategic importance for SAP.

Currently, it has a headcount of 14000 employees working in India across Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Gurugram.

Founded in November 1998, SAP Labs India drives SAP’s product strategy, is responsible for SAP core solutions, and provides product localization and India-specific solutions. Unique to SAP Labs India is that it represents the entire breadth of SAP product portfolio and contributes to SAP flagship products such as SAP HANA.
