An Indian multinational corporation, Wipro has asked its employees in Israel to work from home (WFH) until further notice as the company follows the safety measures.

According to Mint, Wipro has about 80 employees in Israel, all of them are Israeli nationals and have been accounted for.

Wipro also reported that the total employee count has gone down by 8,812 individuals in the June quarter. The total employee count at Wipro experienced a decline, reaching 249,758 by the end of the first quarter, in comparison to 258,570 at the end of the previous fiscal year, FY23.

A short time ago before Wipro’s comment, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said that it is closely monitoring the safety of employees stuck in Israel.

A TCS executive said, “We are monitoring, and have been in touch with the HR (human resources) officials there. We are helping them with safety measures.”

“There are some employees from India and their families,” TCS executive added.

As of April 2023, Tata Consultancy Services had around 1,100 employees in the country. Israel has an estimated 15,000 to 18,000 Indians, comprising both students and professionals.

Apart from this, the reports have also suggested that Citigroup said, “We are monitoring the situation in Israel carefully.”

“The safety of our colleagues is our highest priority and at the same time we remain focused on serving our clients,” Citigroup added.

Moreover, an American multinational financial services firm, JPMorgan has asked its 200 employees in Israel to work from home (WFH) due to the current situation in the country.

According to Reuters, JPMorgan has taken the step following a deadly attack by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas two days ago.

The reports also suggested that Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said in a memo “The firm is ready to help you and your families in any we can.”

Moreover, Air India has evacuated all its staff including flight and cabin crews from Tel Aviv with the help of Ethiopian Airlines.
