Deutsche Bank said India has a key role in this digital transformation journey

Deutsche Bank, the German banking giant will hire 1,000 techies for tech centres in India this year. The company is looking for people who have the ability to be flexible as technology changes rather than specific digital skills.

According to the moneycontrol report, over the last couple of years, Deutsche Bank has been investing significantly to create technology capabilities internally to cater to changing consumer needs.

The company’s CEO Christian Sewing said that Deutsche Bank will spend 13 billion euros between 2019 and 2022 on its digital transformation journey.

Dilipkumar Khandelwal, Global CIO for Corporate Functions, Deutsche Bank said that India has a key role in this digital transformation journey.

“There is a conscious effort on creating an engineering-driven culture, to get our people to internalize and get more people to focus on engineering and coding aspects to build niche capabilities that are required for the bank,” Dilipkumar to Moneycontrol.

“Deutsche Bank has shortlisted four regions for technology centres, with India being the biggest among them,” Dilipkumar said.

Its Tech Centre already has 4,000 people, with the bank now ramping up. The other locations include Russia, US, and Romania. For these centres where the majority of the hiring is happening to build engineering capabilities.

Dilipkumar Khandelwal said “In line with our strategy of internalizing our technology talent and growing our engineering capabilities in house, we are expecting that Deutsche Bank to hire up to 1,000 employees at our India technology centres this year,”

He added, “Deutsche Bank hires from the best campuses in India like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). According to Khandelwal, the bank is looking at at-least 25 to 35 different colleges across the country.”

Deutsche Bank established its first branch in India in 1980 and currently operates branches in 16 cities.
