Mondelez India to reimburse for in-house nanny services

According to TOI report, Mondelez India, formerly known as Cadbury, one of the world’s largest snacking companies, has announced to reimburse expenses incurred by its employees on in-house nanny services.

The company said new policy is applicable for employees who have children aged from 6 months to 4 years, also includes those who have taken the adoption or surrogacy route to parents.

The cost of hiring an in-house nanny comes approximately Rs. 12,000-15,000 per month.

Commenting on this development, Mahalakshmi R, Head HR, Mondelez India said, “Managing work from home (WFH) for new parents is a tough task, given that creches are not open at every location. We have expanded the ‘creche benefit’ under our ‘new parents policy’ to include ‘in-house nanny services’ till such time that creches around India are operational again. This will provide greater flexibility to our colleagues in managing parenting and work.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the daycare & creche services are not fully operational, so managing work along with home and childcare became difficult for parents especially for those who’ve recently entered parenthood.

In such a scenario, child care providers, or nanny services are helpful and a great fit.

Allowing the Hybrid Work Models, companies are providing creche benefit to WFH employees by way of partnering with aggregator/multiple daycare partners. Draft rules of the social security code are also endorsing this.

Mondelez India is the first company that has separately announced a policy to pay employees specifically for nanny services.

Mondelez India is a part of Mondelēz International, one of the world’s largest snacking companies, empowering people to snack right in over 150 countries around the world. The company has created products that are truly Indian – Cadbury 5Star, Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk, Cadbury Gems, Cadbury Bournvita, Cadbury Perk and so many others that have now gone from India to global markets.
