Bengaluru-based logistics startup Porter has laid off approximately 300 to 350 employees, representing nearly 18% of its workforce, as part of a one-time restructuring initiative.

The decision, confirmed by the company on November 5, 2025, is aimed at reducing costs, eliminating redundancies, and preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO).

Porter Strategic Realignment and Operational Efficiency

Porter stated that the layoffs are part of a broader transition to build a stronger, more agile, and financially resilient organisation.

The company is consolidating its truck and two-wheeler delivery units, which has led to the elimination of overlapping roles.

This move is intended to improve operational efficiency and align resources with long-term strategic goals.

In an official statement, Porter said, “We’re in the midst of a transition that required a one-time restructuring, aimed at building a stronger, more agile, and financially resilient organisation for the road ahead. As part of this journey, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions that affect our people, choices that were not easy and were made after careful consideration”.

Financial Performance and Growth Trajectory

Despite the layoffs, Porter has shown strong financial performance in recent quarters.

The company reported a 57% increase in revenue in FY25, reaching ₹4,306 crore, and turned profitable with a net gain of ₹55 crore, reversing losses from the previous fiscal year.

Porter raised $200 million in May 2025 at a valuation of $1.2 billion. It is also reportedly closing another funding round worth $100–110 million.

These investments are expected to support its expansion plans and strengthen its market position in the competitive logistics sector.

Porter Employee Support and Transition Measures

Porter has assured that affected employees will receive severance packages, extended health coverage, and career transition assistance.

The company emphasized that the restructuring was a one-time exercise and not indicative of ongoing downsizing.

The layoffs have affected various departments across Porter.

However, the company continues to hire in strategic areas like technology, product development, and enterprise logistics, showing a shift toward scalable and tech-driven solutions.

Market Position and Service Offerings

Founded in 2014, Porter provides intra-city logistics and courier services, including on-demand trucking, packing and moving, and enterprise logistics.

The company has onboarded over 300,000 driver partners across India. It currently serves more than 2 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Porter’s business model focuses on leveraging technology to optimize delivery operations and reduce turnaround times.

Its platform connects businesses and individuals with verified driver-partners, offering flexible and cost-effective logistics solutions.
