Tata Motors appoints Al-Noor Ramji as Independent Director

Tata Motors Limited announced the appointment of Al-Noor Ramji as an Additional and Independent Director of the company, effective May 1, 2022.

“We hereby inform you that the Board of Directors at its meeting held on January 31, 2022, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has decided to appoint Mr. Al-Noor Ramji as an Additional Director and Independent Director w.e.f. May 1, 2022 for a tenure of 5 years, subject to completion of applicable regulatory formalities and approval of the shareholders of the Company.” the company said in e-filling.

Al-Noor has extensive experience in digital transformation in various industries such as Financial Services, Telecommunications, Software, and High Tech. He is the founder or co-founder of a number of start-ups in India, the UK, Kenya, and the USA as well as actively participating to build companies in Asia including the top three IT services companies in China.

Currently, Al-Noor Ramji (64) is the Group Chief Digital Officer for Prudential and responsible for overseeing the development and execution of an integrated, long-term digital strategy for the Group. He joined Prudential in January 2016.

And prior to Prudential, he worked with Northgate Capital, a venture capital firm in Bay Area, where he ran the technology-focused funds and raised money.

Al-Noor also worked at Misys, the financial services software group, and he has previously held CEO or EVP level technology and innovation position at BT Group, Qwest Communications, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, and Swiss Bank Corporation.

Al-Noor is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BSc in Electronics from the University of London. He is a multi-year winner of the CIO 100 Award, CIO Insight IT Leader of the Year 2009, and the British Computer Society CIO of the Year.
