Tech Mahindra, a global leader in technology consulting and digital transformation solutions, has partnered with Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) (USI), a pioneer in electronic design and manufacturing, to establish USI’s first Engineering Offshore Development Center (ODC) in India.

Located at Tech Mahindra’s Bengaluru office, this new center aims to drive innovation in smart device engineering and other cutting-edge technologies.

Tech Mahindra and USI Collaboration and Objectives

Tech Mahindra and USI design their partnership to provide scalable solutions. It also accelerates time-to-market for innovative products.

The center will leverage Tech Mahindra’s specialized talent pool and advanced labs.

It will focus on key emerging technologies such as connected devices, additive manufacturing, connected vehicles, and augmented and virtual reality.

This partnership marks a significant milestone for USI as it expands its engineering capabilities to India.

It provides a strong foundation for enhancing device software development, hardware design, and testing.

The new development center will offer comprehensive services, including modem software development, Android telephony, middleware solutions, board support packages (BSP), device driver engineering, and advanced hardware and printed circuit board (PCB) design.

These services will bolster USI’s expertise in the telecom and automotive sectors, enabling quicker and more efficient product launches.

Tech Mahindra will also enhance its modem, radio frequency software, and video bar development capabilities through this collaboration.

Statements from Leadership

Narasimham RV, President of Engineering Services at Tech Mahindra, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration.

Narasimham stated, “We are delighted to collaborate with USI to launch a first-of-its-kind engineering development center.”

He added, “This underscores our commitment to driving innovation through specialized engineering services.”

Narasimham said, “We are positive that this collaboration will pave the way for device software and hardware design advancements, ultimately setting the stage for future partnerships.”

John Fang, CTO of USI, echoed this sentiment, saying, “The establishment of our offshore development center with Tech Mahindra marks a significant milestone in extending the capabilities of USI’s R&D efforts.”

He added, “By leveraging Tech Mahindra’s specialized talent pool and deep expertise in the telecom and automotive sectors, we are well-positioned to enhance both the speed and quality of our innovations.”

Tech Mahindra Partnership with USI: Impact

The new facility will help USI streamline its product development process.

This enables the company to focus on core competencies while benefiting from competitive pricing and efficient service delivery.

As the first of its kind for USI in India, this center highlights how global companies can harness India’s engineering talent to enhance time-to-market and drive product innovation.

It also signals a new era of collaboration. This showcases the potential for joint innovation and operational excellence to meet the evolving needs of the global market.
