In a landmark move aimed at enhancing employment opportunities in India, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoL&E) and Amazon recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The signing ceremony took place in New Delhi and was attended by Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje.

Leveraging the National Career Service (NCS) Portal

The MoU underscores a joint commitment to leveraging the National Career Service (NCS) portal—a platform that connects job seekers with employment opportunities across various sectors and industries.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that the NCS portal is evolving into a one-stop destination for accessing employment-related services

With this partnership, Amazon aims to expand job accessibility for India’s youth, empowering them to explore suitable roles and build a future filled with growth and opportunities.

Dr. Mandaviya also revealed that the NCS portal is undergoing significant upgrades.

The enhanced platform will feature a more user-friendly interface for job seekers, employers, and stakeholders. It will be incorporating advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence.

This transformation will streamline the job search process. It will alongside provide tailored recommendations to job seekers based on their skills and preferences.

Role of Amazon in Boosting Job Prospects

Under the two-year MoU, Amazon will actively participate in the NCS ecosystem. This includes and third-party staffing agencies involved in hiring for the company.

Job Vacancies on NCS Portal: Amazon will regularly post job vacancies on the NCS portal. The company will be ensuring that these opportunities are accessible to a wide range of job seekers.

Hiring Through NCS: The company will conduct hiring processes directly through the NCS platform, simplifying the recruitment process for both employers and job seekers.

Job Fairs at Model Career Centres (MCCs): Amazon will collaborate with MCCs to organize job fairs

These events will allow job seekers to interact directly with Amazon’s recruitment teams. The aim to provide a more personalized and efficient hiring experience.

A key aspect of this partnership is its commitment to inclusivity. The MoU prioritizes employment opportunities for women and divyang (persons with disabilities) candidates, ensuring equal access to jobs.

By promoting diversity and inclusion, this joint initiative aims to create a more robust and representative workforce in India.
