A survey on Green HR by SightsIn Plus gathered input from around 300 professionals and revealed that more than 75% of organizations in India now apply ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices in their HR functions.

This shift shows a wider adoption of eco-friendly practices into HR functions as part of day-to-day work.

Key Findings from the Survey

The use of ESG is spread across various HR areas. Here’s how the 300 respondents broke it down:

  • Talent Acquisition – 49%
Companies are applying ESG to hiring practices, focusing on fair selection, social fairness, and sustainability.
  • HR Compliance – 16%
ESG is being used to support policies related to legal and ethical standards, especially on diversity and inclusion.
  • Compensation – 12%
There’s a growing focus on clear and fair pay structures linked to ESG goals.
  • Employee Engagement & Well-being – 12%
Some organizations tie ESG to staff support, health, and work-life balance.
  • Other HR Functions – 11%
This includes training, leadership planning, and reviews.

Many organizations are going paperless to help save trees, encouraging remote work to cut down on carbon emissions, and hiring people who care about sustainability. Some companies also raise awareness through internal campaigns and invite employees to plant a tree on their birthday as part of their workplace culture.

Romesh Srivastava, Editor-in-Chief of SightsIn Plus, said on the findings, “Over 75% of organizations are now applying ESG practices within their HR functions, which shows that ESG is steadily becoming a regular part of HR work. People need to stay informed, take part actively, and stay motivated to help push the ESG agenda forward in their companies.”

Summary

The findings show that ESG is no longer limited to corporate reports—it’s becoming part of everyday HR work, often referred to as Green HR.

While Talent Acquisition remains the top focus, other areas like compliance, pay, and employee support are catching up.

The use of a platform like the WhatsApp Channel to collect this data also shows that even simple tools can give strong insights when used with a clear purpose.

With ESG and Green HR becoming more common, companies may need to make sure their teams are better informed and ready to support these efforts.
