In a remarkable move that underscores its commitment to inclusivity and employee development, KFC India has introduced a mandatory sign language training program for all its employees.

This initiative, part of the Kshamata program, aims to bridge gender and ability gaps within the organization.

KFC’s vision extends beyond just serving finger-lickin’ good chicken; it now includes fostering a more inclusive workplace where everyone can communicate effectively, regardless of their abilities.

First-of-Its-Kind Training

KFC’s sign language training is a first in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry. All 17,000 KFC employees—spread across 240 cities and over 1,200 restaurants—are required to undertake this training.

Even corporate staff members are participating, ensuring that sign language becomes a common language within the KFC family. The training modules, designed in consultation with a sign language expert, cover the basics of Indian Sign Language (ISL).

Employees learn everything from alphabets to greetings and regular phrases, enabling them to hold conversations in sign language.

KFC Kshamata Program: Feeding Potential

KFC’s Kshamata program is at the heart of this initiative. Beyond chicken and fries, KFC is committed to empowering its workforce. By 2026, the company aims to double the number of speech and hearing-impaired (SHI) employees.

Through Kshamata, KFC not only feeds people delicious meals but also feeds their potential. They are breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all.

The sign language training is a significant step toward achieving this goal.

KFC’s impact extends beyond its own doors. As part of the #SpeakSign campaign, the brand has launched India’s first interactive Sign Language kiosk.

Located at popular spots like Select CityWalk in New Delhi and Ambience Mall in Gurugram, this kiosk allows individuals to learn to order their favorite food items using Indian Sign Language.

Now, anyone can sign for a pizza, burger, or KFC’s iconic Hot & Crispy chicken.

By taking this movement beyond their organization, KFC hopes to inspire the entire hospitality industry to embrace sign language and create a more inclusive dining experience.
