The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally altered the work landscape, with many companies shifting to remote work models. However, as the pandemic subsides, there’s a growing trend of companies calling employees back to the office.

However, there should be a right balance between in-office and remote work is crucial for employee well-being, productivity, and overall organizational success.

Here is a list of companies that have changed their work policies:

Flipkart has asked its senior employees to work from the office five days a week. The company has not provided any official statement regarding the revision of its Work from Office policies.

However, the company has mentioned that senior directors, vice presidents, and senior vice presidents have been instructed to work from the office five days a week.

Cognizant in India employees are asked to work from the office thrice a week. Around 254,000 of Cognizant’s 347,700 employees are based in India.

In an internal memo, Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S has urged staff to use the in-person time to prioritize activities “that benefit greatly from being together” such as collaborative projects, training, and team building.

Recently regarding a work policy update, Cognizant’s CEO Ravi Kumar S communicated with employees via email that it is expected to be in the office an average of three days per week, or as defined by their team leader.

Currently, the company implements a “settling period” in March, during which employees are required to work in the office for two days per week (eight days total in March).

Nevertheless, the company has not specified a specific timeline for the implementation of this policy.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) issued a final notice to remote-working employees and asked them to resume work from the office starting in March.

TCS Chief Executive Officer, K Krithivasan said in a Nasscom session, “In fact, we have no plans to reduce our hiring and will continue to hire the same way as we have been doing.”

“Probably we will have to change the hiring phase, but no cutting down on our hiring plans, for sure”, he added.

The CEO further said, “We are not for work from home, because we believe that working from the office is the right way of working.”

IBM has asked its employees in the US to return to the office at least three days a week. The company has asked its employees to relocate, by August 1, 2024, to access an IBM U.S. location.
