Kerala is set to host the Global Skill Summit on August 29 and 30, 2025, at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi.

The two-day event, organized by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC), aims to redefine the state’s role in shaping the future of work, education, and innovation.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the summit, which is expected to bring together over 2,000 physical participants and more than one lakh virtual attendees from across the globe.

With a strong foundation in literacy, healthcare, and human development, the state is now focusing on aligning its human resource capabilities with global industry needs.

Key Themes and Objectives

The Global Skill Summit will focus on several core themes:

  • Skilling for the Future: Addressing the evolving demands of global industries and emerging technologies
  • Innovation Ecosystems: Showcasing best practices in skill development and entrepreneurship
  • Employment and Livelihoods: Creating pathways for quality jobs and inclusive growth
  • Policy and Collaboration: Facilitating dialogue between government, academia, and industry

The event will feature six thematic sessions, policy roundtables, networking dinners, and cultural exchanges.

A curated expo titled “Elevate” will highlight innovations in skill mastery and excellence across 50 sectors.

Launch of LinkedIn Kerala Talent Report 2025

A key highlight of the summit will be the unveiling of the LinkedIn Kerala Talent Report 2025.

This first-of-its-kind study will provide insights into the state’s talent distribution, employability trends, and global footprint.

The report is expected to inform future skilling strategies and help identify areas for targeted intervention.

Eminent Speakers and Global Participation

The summit will host a diverse group of speakers and delegates, including:

  • S.D. Shibulal, former CEO and co-founder of Infosys
  • Santhosh Mathew, Gates Foundation
  • Raimund Klein, CEO of the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT)
  • Tom Bewick, Professor of Skills and Workforce Policy, UK
  • Megan Lily, Jobs and Skills Australia

Delegations from countries such as the UK, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, and organizations like UNIDO and ILO will also participate, reinforcing Kerala’s global outreach.

Strategic Partnerships and MoUs

The summit will witness the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading companies.

These partnerships aim to leverage Kerala’s higher education outputs and global capability centres to create quality employment opportunities.

Former Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac emphasized the state’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of its youth through meaningful job creation.

As part of the state’s Vijnana Keralam initiative, the summit will support campus placements for nearly one lakh students from higher education institutions.

This effort aligns with Kerala’s goal of integrating skilling with academic pathways and expanding access to employment.
