Cognizant Technology Solutions has announced plans to establish a world-class IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) campus in Visakhapatnam, with an investment of ₹1,582.98 crore.

The project is expected to generate 8,000 direct jobs, reinforcing the state’s emergence as a key IT hub in India.

State officials and industry leaders welcomed the announcement enthusiastically.

It aligns with the government’s broader vision to attract high-value technology investments and generate employment opportunities for the youth.

Cognizant Vizag Project Details: Scale, Location, and Timeline

Cognizant has sought 21.31 acres of land at Kapulauppada, under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a strategic step to encourage investment by allotting land for the project.

It offered the land at a nominal rate of just 99 paise per acre, signaling strong support for the initiative.

The company aims to commence commercial operations by March 2029, with the entire project being 100% self-funded.

The campus will house cutting-edge infrastructure to support IT and ITES operations, including digital engineering, cloud services, and enterprise software development.

Employment Impact: 8,000 Jobs and Local Talent Development

The project is expected to create approximately 8,000 direct jobs over the next few years, offering a significant boost to employment in the region.

The jobs will span across software development, business process services, IT infrastructure, and support functions.

This initiative is particularly significant for local graduates and engineering talent.

It opens up opportunities for high-quality employment within the state, helping retain skilled professionals closer to home.

It also aligns with Cognizant’s broader strategy of expanding its talent footprint in Tier-2 cities.
