United Nations Internship Open to Indian Nationals Only, Apply

United Nations is inviting applications for the positions of Intern – Communications and Advocacy (Two Positions) – Intergovernmental Processes.

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress in meeting their needs worldwide.

UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and work with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes, and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.

It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on four strategic priorities:

  • Women lead, participate in and benefit equally from governance systems.
  • Women have income security, decent work, and economic autonomy.
  • All women and girls live a life free from all forms of violence.
  • Women and girls contribute to and have greater influence in building sustainable peace and resilience, and benefit equally from the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts and humanitarian action.

UN Women also coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality, and in all deliberations and agreements linked to the 2030 Agenda. The entity works to position gender equality as fundamental to the Sustainable Development Goals, and a more inclusive world.

  • Education: University studies in one of the following disciplines: communications, media studies, creative communication, advertising, and journalism or other subject relevant to this position, at the university level or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Have graduated with a university degree in the last two years or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional degree/ traineeship program that is part of a degree programme and undertakes the internship as part of the program requirements.
  • Language: Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Hindi are required.Stipend: Interns will receive a stipend from UN Women for the duration of the internship. The interns are requested to use their own equipment during their internship.

  • Kindly note that the system will only allow one attachment. Applications without the completed UN Women P-11 form will be treated as incomplete and will not be considered for further assessment.
  • All applicants must submit a completed and signed P.11 form with their application. Due to the high volume of applications received, we can ONLY contact successful candidates.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of enrolment in a valid health insurance plan at the duty station of the internship, proof of school enrolment or degree, a scanned copy of their passport/national ID, and a copy of a valid visa (as applicable).  An interview process will be followed for the selection of Interns.

The Intergovernmental Processes unit of the UN Women India country office works closely with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, and is currently providing gender-specific technical support to various Working Groups and Engagement Groups of G20 under India’s Presidency, and mainstream gender across the dialogues.

The unit works across Generation Equality, Women, Peace & Security, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
