3M to open tech hub in Bengaluru, plans to hire 1,000 employees

To expand its digital charter, 3M, has announced its plans to open a new technology centre in Bengaluru. The company already had a tech hub in Bengaluru since 2011 and a new design centre was opened in 2018 within the same tech centre.

In a statement, the company stated that 3M is going to complete its first 1,000 employees within the first 18 months and then it is going to follow its footprint to expand further. 

The company already had an R&D and engineering centre in India. The technology centre of excellence has deeply embedded itself into the Indian ecosystem by offering advanced analytics, automation and AIML capabilities.

It will now be adding a digital hub for the $32-billion manufacturing behemoth that has over 60,000 products used in homes, businesses, hospitals and other industries.

Shaun Braun, SVP – digital transformation at 3M said, “The tech hub in Bengaluru ties into the company’s agenda of transforming into a digitally-connected one that combines its material and digital sciences through advanced capabilities to solve customer challenges. He said, “Our tech centre excellence in Bengaluru is the cornerstone to fully realising this vision.”

The Post-IT manufacturer has joined hands with the consulting firm ANSR to build global capability centres. “3M has a strong India presence. The tech centre of excellence underscores how deeply it has embedded itself in the Indian ecosystem with advanced analytics, automation and AI/ML capabilities,” CEO and founder Lalit Ahuja said. 

The company, 3M, has ranked 96 on the Fortune 500 list, has partnered with Lalit Ahuja’s ANSR, the Bengaluru-based firm that assists in establishing and operating global capability centres in India.

3M has a strong presence in India. The tech centre of excellence underscores how it has deeply embedded itself in the Indian ecosystem with advanced analytics, automation and AI/ML capabilities. He said.
