TCS becomes the top employer with 35% women workforce in India

According to a survey conducted by Burungdy Private, a private banking business of Axis Bank and Hurun India. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has more female employees than any company in India.

This is the second edition of the list, which ranks the 500 most valuable companies in India. These companies are ranked according to their value, defined as market capitalization for listed companies and valuations for non-listed companies.

The cut-off date to arrive at this list was 30th October 2022.

TCS employs 35% i.e. 2,10,000 women employees out of 5,92,195 total headcount of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd in 2022.

The peers IT services provider companies in India including Infosys Ltd., Wipro Ltd., and HCL Technologies Ltd., were next in line. Reliance Industries Ltd. rounded up the top five.

According to the survey below is the list of companies having women employees in their organization.

  • Tata Consultancy Services – 2,10,000
  • Infosys- 1,24,498
  • Wipro- 88,946
  • HCL Technologies- 62,780
  • Reliance Industries- 62,560
  • Motherson Sumi Systems- 52,501
  • Tech Mahindra- 42,774
  • ICICI Bank- 32,697
  • HDFC Bank- 22,750
  • Page Industries- 22,631

Anas Rahman Junaid MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India said, “Women make up 16 per cent of the boards of the companies from the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500. As India’s economy grows and the India 500 becomes bigger, expect the percentage of women board directors to grow too.”

“The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 are some of the biggest employers of women in the country led by Tata Consultancy Services with about 2.1 lakh women employees,” He added.
