Madhya Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment 2025 has drawn an overwhelming response, with nearly 9.76 lakh candidates applying for just 7,500 constable positions.

The recruitment drive, conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), has become a focal point in discussions around youth unemployment and the growing desperation for stable government jobs.

Massive Response to Entry-Level Government Constable Jobs

The recruitment process began on September 15, 2025, with applications initially closing on September 29.

Due to the surge in applications, the deadline was extended to October 6.

The written examination is scheduled for October 30, followed by physical tests and document verification.

If the timeline proceeds as planned, selected candidates are expected to join the force by May or June 2026.

The constable posts are divided between the District Executive Force (DEF) and the Special Armed Forces (SAF), with salaries ranging from ₹19,500 to ₹62,000 per month.

The eligibility requirement is a Class 10 pass, yet the applicant pool includes over 12,000 engineers, 52,000 postgraduates, and around 50 PhD holders.

Why Highly Qualified Youth Are Applying

The presence of highly educated candidates for entry-level roles has raised concerns about the disconnect between education and employment opportunities.

For many, the constable job represents not just a career in law enforcement but a rare chance at financial security and social respect.

Candidates like Pallavi Chowkikar, an MBA graduate from Chhindwara, and Nidhi Dhote, who holds an MSc in Mathematics, shared that limited job options and family responsibilities compelled them to apply.

Others, like Vijay Verma from Sehore, emphasized the cultural value of government jobs in rural areas, where such roles are seen as symbols of stability and dignity.

Constable Recruitment Logistics and Exam Details

To manage the large volume of applicants, the MPESB will conduct a computer-based test across 11 districts.

These include Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, Ratlam, and Ujjain.

The exam will be held in two shifts: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

Candidates will undergo a multi-stage selection process, including written exams, physical efficiency tests, medical examinations, and document verification.

A Snapshot of India’s Employment Landscape

This recruitment drive is not an isolated case.

Similar trends have emerged in other states, with millions applying for peon, gardener, and watchman roles.

Experts say the surge in applications for low-level government jobs reflects a broader employment crisis, especially among educated youth.

There is a growing mismatch between qualifications and job availability. As a result, even PhD holders are competing for roles that require only basic schooling.

The constable recruitment in Madhya Pradesh has thus become a symbol of both aspiration and anxiety in today’s job market.
