Tencent fires 100 employees for bribery and embezzlement

Asia’s biggest internet company, Tencent Holdings Ltd fired more than 100 employees. The reason behind the termination is violating law and company policies in 2022 including suspected bribery and embezzlement.

The number of employees that were sacked was accused of corruption were part of the company’s PCG arm. The PCG arm oversees its mammoth content output from news to sports and movies.

The statement also said that more than 10 employees were transferred to China’s public security organ. The company also revealed that there was an increase in the number of cases and personnel investigated and dealt with throughout 2022 compared to 2021.

“There is an increase in the number of cases and people involved this year as compared to 2021,” the firm said.

“Tencent’s anti-cheating investigation department has taken stronger measures against these internal issues, such as corruption and cheating”, the firm further said.
