In a progressive move aimed at fostering an inclusive workplace, CARS24, the auto-tech company, has introduced a new policy—Flow Time-Out Leave—for its female and transgender employees.

Effective from September, this initiative allows women and transgender individuals to take a day off at any time during the month, no questions asked.

The decision aligns with CARS24’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment, even though currently only 15% of its workforce is female.

Understanding Flow Time-Out Leave by Cars24

Flow Time-Out Leave, commonly known as period leave, acknowledges the unique challenges faced by women and transgender employees during menstruation.

It recognizes that this natural biological process can impact physical and emotional well-being, making it difficult to focus on work.

By granting a day off without requiring any explanation, CARS24 aims to prioritize health and alleviate the discomfort associated with menstruation.

Vikram Chopra, co-founder and CEO of CARS24, expressed his personal connection to this policy.

In a company blog post, he stated, “Starting this month, all women and transgender individuals at CARS24 can take the day off when they need it during their period. Why? Because I understand how difficult it is to focus when you’re in pain.”

Vikram emphasized that this policy goes beyond corporate directives—it’s about acknowledging the well-being of female and LGBTQIA+ employees.

Vikram also addressed male employees, urging them to normalize discussions around period leave. He emphasized that colleagues taking flow time-out should not make others uncomfortable.

Instead, it’s an essential part of life, and empathy toward those experiencing discomfort is crucial.

While men may never fully understand the physical sensations, they can trust the need for this break and support their colleagues.

Ensuring a Safe and Respectful Environment

CARS24 has assured its employees that any form of harassment or inappropriate comments related to the policy will be promptly addressed.

The company encourages employees to report such behavior to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) team or via the designated email for complaints.

This commitment ensures a safe and respectful work environment for everyone.
